THE BRIEF
The objective of this assignment is to apply Scott McCloud's theory on transitions to create a digital triptych, comprising three panels: one before, one during (climactic turning point), and one after a significant event. Each panel will represent a different transition type from McCloud's theory.
Referencing Scott McCloud's analysis of transitions in "Understanding Comics," you will select one panel before and one panel after the climactic turning point, surrounding a panel representing the turning point itself. Each panel will exemplify a different transition type, creating a digital triptych that showcases various narrative transitions.

Each panel will exemplify a different transition type, creating a digital triptych that showcases various narrative transitions.
- Review Scott McCloud's transitions: moment-to-moment, action-to-action, subject-to-subject, scene-to-scene, aspect-to-aspect.
- Select one transition type for each of the three panels: before, during (climactic turning point), and after the turning point.
- Identify specific moments or elements in the narrative that align with the chosen transitions.
- Create a digital triptych with three panels that clearly illustrate the chosen transitions.
- Use any digital medium (illustration software, graphic design tools, etc.) to craft the panels.
- Ensure coherence and narrative flow between the panels, capturing the essence of the transitions selected.
- Submit the completed digital triptych via the designated platform.
- Include a brief explanation for each panel, detailing the chosen transition and its significance in the narrative context.
- Ensure that each panel distinctly represents its respective transition type.
- Understanding and application of Scott McCloud's theory on transitions in creating the digital triptych.
- Clarity and effectiveness in using each transition to depict the sequential narrative.
- Coherence and visual storytelling across the three panels.
- Artistic execution and presentation of the digital triptych.

DIGITAL TRIPTYCH/Week10-11
From Week10 lecture, we need to create three panels related to past task and choose one concept from Scott McCloud’s Transition. I choose number 4, Scene to Scene. I asked Mr.Hafiz to I need to pursue constancy in past work and this work or no need to make constancy in screen. He gave me an advice, “middle panel in past and two present panels are need strong constancy. Try not to break the flow of the narrative.” Refer to Mr.Hafiz advice, I started from rethink this theme.
In the first scene of this urban legend, a woman accidentally lost in the Kisaragi Station. I visualized the scene that she left at station platform and searching for the exit.
My theme, “Kisaragi Station” has no decisive ending. Sometimes the person who lost in this station are killed, abducted by someone, or wondering there forever. However every story has same object- “Train”. This object working as important role, so I set it in the last panel. This figure shows the progress of making train appearance. I choose the one looks old and spooky.
To make constancy in screen, I used the same background as task2. I want to pursue the real angle and appearance, so I adjust the train shape.
I added a dark transparent color layer to adjust color balance. I want to make spooky and scary screen in this work, so I try to reduce the brightness.
FINAL DIGITAL TRIPTYCH
Figure 8 is the linking panels that included task 2 work.
REFLECTIONS
I focus on make a constancy in three panels and searching way to make them more smooth. First scene and second scene has people in screen and I place them left to center. This change will helping viewer’s eye movement. The middle panel is working as smooth scene change between first to middle, middle to last. I placed the train in center and it is close to people face in middle part. This also working as help eye movement. I really stuck in thinking about how to make smooth scene change and this is one of the answers for me.
On the other hand, I got a skill of making simplified object related to real picture. I used train picture as reference and the process that I try to make train looks real in Adobe Illustrator are really helpful for me to learn skills. Texture and blur is make them more realistic. The background is really dark and train light is looks blight in real picture, so I made the light expression using blur and transparent layer. I think this expression makes the screen more spooky. I could finding this task to be incredibly enriching as it provides me with a multitude of insights and knowledge.
